Something about TPU membrane and PU membrane

TPU membrane , that is Thermoplastic polyurethane membrane , is a kind of eco-friendly material to replace of PVC film , it is made with TPU particles via special procedure of blowing , flowing casting , extruding etc.

PU membrane , that is Polyurethane membrane , is a non-toxic and environmentally friendly high-strength film, which has the characteristics of high strength, wear resistance, good elasticity, weather resistance, environmental protection, non-toxicity, recyclability and decomposition.

Although these two films are both non-porous membranes , and with good moisture permeability and good waterproofness , while there are still many differences between them .
1.Different processing method
TPU membrane is made with TPU particles via special procedure of blowing , flowing casting , extruding etc.
PU membrane is made by coating process and reacted with solvent .
2.Different hand feeling
TPU membrane is light and soft ,while PU membrane is even softer .
3.Different specification and colors
For TPU membrane, thickness can range from 8 microns to 1000microns for different industries , and width can range from 1m-3m , while for PU membrane , thickness can range from 10 microns to 30 microns , and width is within 1.55m .
For PU membrane, based on its processing procedure , it can be made with different colors , it is with more color options . while for TPU membrane , other colors  are made with a MOQ due to its processing .
4.Different costing and pricing
Compared to PU film , cost of TPU membrane is lower ,  it is more acceptable with competitive price , so it is widely used in many industries .
5.Different process-ability
TPU is with thermoplastic , it will soften when heating at special temperature , and can be processed with different shapes such as tube , sheet , films . And TPU film is with wide temperature resistance , so it is easy to process ; with PU membrane is thermosetting , it is not available for a second time processing .
6.Different physical properties
Except for high waterproofness and good moisture permeability , TPU film is with better extensibility , better water pressure , evener surface , and easy process-ability .
7 . different applications
With various good physical properties , TPU membrane is widely used in different industries including outdoor garments , shoes , gloves , home textile such as waterproof mattress cover , inflatable mattress , blackout curtain etc.  medical supplies , automobile interior , inflatable products , outdoor tent and other industries .
For PU membrane , widely used for garment including down , jacket ,ski , cycling uniform ,  medical supplies , Leather surface coating .

Anyway ,  TPU membrane and PU membrane are both with good physical properties which allow it to be used widely nowadays .
